Ms. Balliet has been a chemist with Barker & Herbert Analytical Laboratories,
Inc., since 1986. She earned a
bachelor of science in education with distinction and a master of
science in education from Indiana University. She has completed 70 graduate hours.
She is currently certified by the
state of Indiana to teach chemistry, biology, physical science, and general science at the secondary level. She also has had 348 hours of training in forensic chemistry.
Her responsibilities at Barker & Herbert encompass the following: forensic science;
qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses, including chemical and instrumental analysis of fire debris, soot for source fuels, contaminated automotive
fluids, and other trace evidence; industrial consultation, including product litigation testing and quality
control; litigation support, including expert testimony, trial assistance;
documentation security testing of lottery tickets; and workshops, seminars, and speaking engagements.
Ms. Balliet has qualified as an expert witness in federal and state courts in IN, MI, KY, and FL.
